I Watch You When You Sleep

*My 3 kids love helping with this project.  They like to take turns posing, positioning the doll, and helping me with the lighting.  Along the way they are learning about photography and also learning that when you see what goes into the scary things they might come across on tv or in photos, they are really not so scary.  By helping behind the scenes, this is not creepy to them, just creative and fun.

Here I Come...

I'm Coming For You

You Can't Hide Me

Why???

l I love things that are creepy. I like scary movies, creepy art, weird antiques, old photos, and ghost stories. I love creepy. I'm not the super fab, original goth mom Morticia Addams, but just a regular mom who has a fascination with the fun side of creepy.  This Creepy Doll Photo Project was born partly from my love of scary and partly because of my grandmother.

My grandmother loved dolls. She loved dolls a lot. My sweet grandmother loved dolls so much that she had an entire room dedicated to dolls. All four walls had floor to ceiling shelves filled with dolls. Old dolls, new dolls, Barbies, dolls with glass eyes, dolls that blinked, giggled, crawled, and talked. Guess who got to sleep in that room? Yeah, that's right, me. I remember laying there in bed at night flat on my back with my arms straight at my sides and all of my limbs under the covers. I did not want any part of me exposed to the air...exposed to the dolls.  I'd lay there with my eyes scrunched up tight, afraid of what I'd see if I opened them. I was a kid with a huge imagination and I always imagined those dolls doing horrible things to scare me.

Through this project, I am bringing all of the fears and nightmares I had of those dolls to life through photographs.  I hope you join me on this fun ride and Hope I can creep you out along the way.
